Title: Discovering the Real Millie
Genre: YA contemporary/historical fiction.
Word Count: 60,000
Progress: Finished

Millie Sinclair hides behind designer clothes and five hundred dollar a table charity events, where she dines on caviar and pate because it’s what her parents expect of her. All she wants is a cheeseburger.

To help maintain her perfect image, Millie dates Jimmy, a Harvard accepted, Rolex wearing, charmer, even though she is in love with another boy. With Jimmy on her arm, all dolled up in her vintage garb, Millie attends the most talked about charity event in Newport’s high society- The Roaring Twenties Gala. It is there she discovers a picture of her great grandmother and her long lost headpiece.

Millie puts on the headpiece and is transported back to 1925 where she doesn’t only step into her great grandmother’s t-strap shoes, but into the worst night of her life. Mistaken for her great-grandmother, Millie navigates the twenties and learns why her great grandmother never discussed her past. Especially the night of August 9th, 1925.

Nothing could prepare Millie for the secrets she discovers, including a secret lover, a soon to be fiancé who is a partner to the top bootlegger in Rhode Island, a crooked sheriff and a great-great grandfather who is as demanding as he is abusive.

The past is not what she expected, but it might just hold the answers to her future.

Raylee has to spend her summer working thanks to her out of control shopping habit. With the grace of a deer on ice, waitressing is the last job she should have, but it’s right on the beach, not to mention she’ll be working alongside Aiden, the hot, beach boy who rescued her after the mutant seagull crapped in her hair.

Two days as a waitress and countless ‘accidents’ later, Raylee is jobless and just when after two years of living in Cliff’s Point she finally found a group to belong to. Figures. Jobless and ready to crawl in a ball from embarrassment, she sees the for hire sign in the window of Eccentric by Nature, a spiritual store and the only place hiring along the shore.

There she meets Addie, but soon realizes Addie is Addison, Aiden’s dead twin sister, and Raylee is the only one who can see her. The crazy witch brigade who killed Addison has their eyes on Aiden, and the only way to save him is to convince him his dead sister is still amongst the living. And the little known fact that they are both from a long line of witches and spirit guides that goes back to the first witch ever burned at the stake during the Trials of Kilkenny.

And she thought getting a job would be hard.

  2. Wow, I can't believe how much you've written. It's awesome how dedicated you are! I was wondering what the agents said. I'll be querying my novel once it's completed and it will be my first shot at querying a YA-fantasy. I queried some children's books and got form rejections. Is it the same for novels, or do they take time and respond personally?

    1. I love it. I don't think I'll ever stop writing.

It's pretty much the same for novels. If they request a partial or a full you are more likely to get a personalized rejection, but sometimes even those receive forms. The better your query is the more chance you'll have at getting a request. Follow agent blogs and twitter accounts for tips. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)

    1. Thank you! I'm really excited about that one. It just made it to the agent round on Cupid's Literary Connection's Blind Dating Contest. Fingers crossed :)

  4. Hey :) Just a teenage fan from WritersCafe here. I read through your Forever series and loved them! It was sad to see them go. I'm just curious - are you going to post the books you've listed here on WC or legitimately publish them? I would probably buy them all ;)

    1. Your comment just completely made my day. I miss WC! I took those books off Writers Cafe because I was trying to get published. Unfortunately I had to put those aside even though I was halfway finished with the last book in the series. Though, I'm hoping one day to go back to them. I love those characters so much. I want to give them a real shot.

As for all the books listed here. I finally have an agent and am hoping to be on the road to publication soon, fingers crossed. But if, no when, I get published I would be more than happy to send you a copy. It may not be soon, but it will be some day. You can find my contact info above. Send me an email and I promise to keep my word.

      Thanks for stopping by! :)

  6. Hi Theresa,

I just finished Home is Where You Are and I have tears in my eyes, it was so beautiful and touching. I've already added it to my re-read list on my Kindle ;)

May I please ask if Kate and Seth will have their stories told? Also, can we (greedily) hold out hope for an extended epilogue for Anna and Dean, perhaps see Dean make it to college?

Sorry, I had to ask (:

Thank you for such an amazing book, I can't foresee this book will ever leave me

    Regards,

    Jacinta
