Reflecting on my New Year Resolutions

After yesterdays post I decided to go back in my blogposts and see my Resolution list for 2013. Let's see how well I've stuck to them shall we.

1) The most obvious and on everyone's list I'm sure. Get back to the gym. My goal is 3-4 times a week.  Please don't laugh at me. Oh I'm laughing at you right now! Though I did in the beginning of the year. But of course I stopped going.
2) Read two books a month. To me this sounds pitiful when I used to read more than that a week. However, I haven't had time, so I think two books a month is doable. While I have done this a few times, I haven't every month. I actually don't remember the last time I finished a book.
3) In 2012 I got an agent Woohoo! 2013 Get an editor :) CHECK!
4) Finish one or two of my current WIP's  Um....yeah not even close
5) Blog 3x's a week. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Nope. Though I do try to remember my Saturday quote every week. Does that count?
6) Reach a 1,000 followers on Pinterest. (Don't judge me lol) CHECK! 1,374!
7) Get organized (Ha!) Um...see yesterdays post.
8) Finish writing the book with my Mom I really need to do this. I love that story so much!
9) Write everyday even if it is only 100 words. Something is better than nothing. This definitely did not happen.
10) Get serious about saving money HA! Yup see previous post.
11) Get new couches (They are hand me downs and I'm not even going to say how old) Still sitting on my beat up couches!
12) In 2012 I got back on my bike. In 2013 I want to get serious, try out new trails and go more often. I've gone several times this summer!
13) Finish edits on all my WIP's I haven't even started.

How are your resolutions going?

I need to get my Sh*t together

The title of this blogpost pretty much sums it up. I am an unorganized mess and a total procrastinator. Seriously. I am. I can finally admit it. I say I'm going to write and then I spend my time on Pinterest and Facebook and Twitter and whatever else can distract me. So instead of writing a thousand words I'm lucky if I write a hundred. I have edits and two books to write and I've been slacking. Though the past few days I've been kicking the word counts ass.

This extends outside of my writing too. I used to go to the gym often. I felt amazing when I was going, I was happy with myself and then I stopped going. Now everyday and I'm not kidding, everyday, I say I'm going to the gym tomorrow. Guess what? I never go. Every paycheck I tell myself to put money into savings and I never get around to doing it.

Then there's my TBR list. I have so many books I want to read. And I own most of them yet I never read them. Why? That's a really good question.

I psych myself up into writing, reading, working out and then when it comes time to actually do it, I don't and then I get depressed and upset with myself for not doing it. I'm sick of it! What is wrong with me? Does anyone else do this?

I've decided I'm going to get my sh*t together. Today is the day I start. I'm going to get organized. I'm going to set realistic goals for myself and actually stick to them. I'm going to create structure in my life and go back to the days when I followed through with everything.

I liked myself more back then. I felt accomplished. It's a great feeling and I miss it.

Do you have a schedule you stick to in order to get word count in? Read a certain amount of books a month?

Cover Reveal for Cassie Mae's SWITCHED

Today is the day for the cover reveal of Cassie Mae's newest. I happened to be there with her when she received the cover from the lovely people at Random House and I'm sure if they weren't there she would have licked it. Though she showed great strength and restrained herself from doing so she did hug it repeatedly. Not that I could blame her the cover is amazing.

What's that? You want to see it. Not yet. First the blurb:

Cassie Mae redefines the New Adult genre with a novel that answers the eternal question: What do you do when you’re head-over-heels for your best friend’s guy?

Ever since high school, Kayla has been crazy for gorgeous football player Talon. But before she could muster the courage to tell him, he became a hot item with her beautiful BFF, Reagan. The only person who knows Kayla’s secret is Wesley, Talon’s best bud—and he’s got it bad for Reagan. Now they’re all in college together, hanging out 24/7. For Kayla, seeing the two lovebirds together is absolutely unbearable. So Kayla and Wesley hatch a plot to drive them apart. But time is ticking and they must act now, before Talon gives Reagan the Christmas gift she’s been waiting for.

Sure enough, the once-happy couple is fighting, Reagan suddenly can’t get enough of Wesley’s goofy sense of humor, and Talon seems to be paying more attention to Kayla than a guy who’s “just a friend” ever should. But something just isn’t right. Then Kayla and Wesley accidentally spend a night together, and discover a hitch they never considered: that switching partners may not lead to a perfect ending after all.

I love this book. I told someone recently that Cassie is my book soulmate. We like the same books and I haven't read a single book of hers that I have not loved. This book is no exception and may even be my favorite.

Oh the cover. Right. Okay so here we go. The cover for SWITCHED by the amazing Cassie Mae:

Isn't it pretty? I love the green background and how the blue and yellow match her Friday Night Alibi cover even if it wasn't intentional because I really don't know if it was. Still I think the fun flirtiness of it captures the book perfectly.

Now be sure to add it to your Goodreads TBR list
Or you can preorder here or here

Cassie Mae is a nerd to the core from Utah, who likes to write about other nerds who find love. She’s the author of the Amazon Bestseller REASONS I FELL FOR THE FUNNY FAT FRIEND, and is the debut author for the Random House FLIRT line with her New Adult novels FRIDAY NIGHT ALIBI and SWITCHED. She also has a three book deal with Swoon Romance Publishing, including her book HOW TO DATE A NERD. She spends time with her angel children and perfect husband who fan her and feed her grapes while she clacks away on the keyboard. Then she wakes up from that dream world and manages to get a few words on the computer while the house explodes around her. When she’s not writing, she’s spending time with the youth in her community as a volleyball and basketball coach, or searching the house desperately for chocolate.

Cover Reveal of my NA Novel (Never) Again!!!

Today is the day! The official cover reveal for (Never)Again to be published by (Berkley) Penguin on October 15th, 2013. I am so excited! This is a dream for me and most days I can't believe it has actually become my reality.

Now for the moment I've been waiting for. But I can't just show you the cover. There needs to be a little build up. First the blurb:

Just when she had finally moved on…
…He moved back.

When college freshman Liz Wagner hears her ex's voice for the first time since he moved clear across the freaking country, she does what any respectable girl would do: Dive into the girls' bathroom.

Zach Roberts—the Zach Roberts—is back. And he’s everywhere Liz looks—infiltrating her friend group, buddy-buddy with her brother. It’s enough to ruin college altogether. But what choice does she have but to put on a happy face and pretend he didn't leave her vulnerable and alone in a pile of emotional wreckage?

Pretending works, until tragedy strikes and the only person available for comfort is the one person she wants to stay away from. When Zach turns out not to be the jerk she convinced herself he was, but the boy she used to love, Liz needs to decide whether to open her heart again to the boy who tore it out.

Theresa Paolo lives in the same town she grew up in on Long Island, NY with her boyfriend and Milton, their big eyed goldfish. She has a hard time accepting the fact she’s nearing thirty which is why she writes New Adult and Young Adult books, reliving the best and worst years of her life through her characters. She put her love of writing on hold while she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Dowling College. On November 11th 2011 at 11:11 she made a wish. Two hours later she was laid off. Jobless for the first time since she was sixteen she was determined to make her wish come true. Writing became her life again and after many nights of ignoring her boyfriend to spend time with her characters, she finally received the call that all her hard work, finger crossing and eye crossing paid off. She signed with Berkley (Penguin) and her debut novel, (NEVER) AGAIN, a NA romance, will be out in Fall 2013.  When she’s not writing, she’s behind a camera or can be found in the blogosphere or on Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.
